Welcome back to Mugdock Castle! I'm really excited to show you this weeks photos! There are less of them this time, but I think they pack a punch and really showcase the "time travel" aspect of touring this castle.
This first photo is in the farthest corner of the last used section of the castle. From here you can see the Tower and, more specifically, the second door entrance. I previously showed a photo of me trying to open that second floor entrance (with no luck.) This whole section would have been at least two floors. Possibly more? I don't know as there wasn't a sign showing a historic drawing for reference.
(By the way, take note of the rectangular stone/brick in the middle of the "room.")

This second photo makes my Young Adult Fantasy reading heart go pitter-pat! So many stories start to bubble up that begin (or include) the staircase that seemingly went nowhere! What comes to mind for you?
As I said in a previous blog post, it's a good thing the gate was there, because I would have been one of the fools thinking they could climb the stairs CAREFULLY and not fall off of them...
There are 12 steps left... One for each -
Month
Disciple
Days of Christmas
Inches in a Foot
What others can you think of?
Incidentally... the word "twelve" is the only number in the English language that is just one syllable.

Okay, okay - enough stalling!
It is TIME for the pièce de résistance (the most important or remarkable feature).
Are you ready?
Are you sure?
Do you have your time-travel kit ready?
Goggles? Check.
Stovetop Hat? Check.
Pocket Watch? Check.
Steampunk outfit? Check!
Well then - here it is!

TA-DA!!!! A circa 1920's stove/oven range (approximately speaking by my Google research calculations)!
WHAT?!!!? I know, I know. I had the EXACT same expression of shock and surprise and delight on my face.
It's not that I DIDN'T believe the sign at the entrance to the castle, which said that this castle was in use until 1946...
But this PROVED it for me. Plus, finding this made my little treasure-hunting heart sing with joy at such a discovery!
And it's completely okay, if you're not as excited by it as I am. :)
Well - believe it or not - I have MORE to show you at Castle Mugdock. Two more blog posts worth in fact!
AND they will have to wait until the end of July, as I am "going" on vacation. I know, I know the SUSPENSE! How will you ever take it!? I trust that God will get you through the wait.
In the meantime, please be safe & be kind.
Blessings on your Journey,
Pastor Emilia
