Clothed In Joy: Sermon delivered on June 28th, 2015

You have turned my mourning into dancing; you have taken off my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, so that my soul may praise you and not be silent.  O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever. [Psalm 30:11-12]

The woman, full of fear and trembling, came forward. Knowing what had happened to her, she fell down in front of Jesus and told him the whole truth.  He responded, “Daughter, your faith has healed you; go in peace, healed from your disease.” […]  Taking her hand, he said to her, “Talitha koum,” which means, “Young woman, get up.”  Suddenly the young woman got up and began to walk around. She was 12 years old. They were shocked!  He gave them strict orders that no one should know what had happened. Then he told them to give her something to eat. [Mark 5:33-34, 41-43]

Just As You Are: Sermon delivered on June 21st, 2015

[...]in honor and dishonor, in ill repute and good repute. We are treated as impostors, and yet are true; as unknown, and yet are well known; as dying, and see—we are alive; as punished, and yet not killed; as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing everything.  We have spoken frankly to you Corinthians; our heart is wide open to you.  There is no restriction in our affections, but only in yours.  In return—I speak as to children—open wide your hearts also. [2 Corinthians 6:8-13]

On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side.”  And leaving the crowd behind, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was.  [Mark 4:35-36]

Flourishing From the Strength of Our Roots: Sermon delivered on June 14th, 2015

The righteous flourish like the palm tree, and grow like a cedar in Lebanon.  They are planted in the house of the Lord; they flourish in the courts of our God.  In old age they still produce fruit; they are always green and full of sap.  [Psalm 92:12-14]

So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new!  [2 Corinthians 5:17]

“The earth produces of itself, first the stalk, then the head, then the full grain in the head.  But when the grain is ripe, at once he goes in with his sickle, because the harvest has come.” […] It is like a mustard seed, which, when sown upon the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on earth; yet when it is sown it grows up and becomes the greatest of all shrubs, and puts forth large branches, so that the birds of the air can make nests in its shade.”  [Mark 4:28-29, 31-32]

First and foremost we are a serving church - throughout nearly three centuries we have been serving the people of Concord and the world.

We are a welcoming church -- welcoming children, youth, and adults, seekers and settled, doubtful and faithful, and creating a community united in Christ's love for us all.

We are a church growing in Christ -- not having all the answers but growing in faith, in love, in working for a just and peaceful world, people learning the way of Jesus together, and welcoming others to learn with us.

    Come and see!
