Healing Purpose: Sermon delivered on May 29th, 2016

The human mind may devise many plans, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will be established.
(Proverbs 19:21)

The purposes in the human mind are like deep water, but the intelligent will draw them out.
(Proverbs 20:5)

And Jesus went with them, but when he was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to say to him, “Lord, do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy to have you come under my roof; therefore I did not presume to come to you. But only speak the word, and let my servant be healed.  For I also am a man set under authority, with soldiers under me; and I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes, and to my slave, ‘Do this,’ and the slave does it.” When Jesus heard this he was amazed at him, and turning to the crowd that followed him, he said, “I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such faith.”  When those who had been sent returned to the house, they found the slave in good health.
(Luke 7:6-10)

when he marked out the foundations of the earth,
then I was beside him, like a master worker;
and I was daily his delight,
rejoicing before him always,
rejoicing in his inhabited world
and delighting in the human race.
  (Proverbs 8:29b-31)

[…] and hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.  (Romans 5:5)

Flames Inspiration: Sermon delivered on May 15th, 2016

Let my whole being bless the Lord!
Lord my God, how fantastic you are!
You are clothed in glory and grandeur!

You wear light like a robe; you open the skies like a curtain.
You build your lofty house on the waters;
You make the clouds your chariot, going around on the wings of the wind.

You make the winds your messengers;
you make fire and flame your ministers.
You established the earth on its foundations so that it will never ever fall.
You covered it with the watery deep like a piece of clothing;
the waters were higher than the mountains!
(Psalm 104:1-6)

When Pentecost Day arrived, they were all together in one place.  Suddenly a sound from heaven like the howling of a fierce wind filled the entire house where they were sitting.  They saw what seemed to be individual flames of fire alighting on each one of them.  They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages as the Spirit enabled them to speak.  (Acts 2:1-4)

    First and foremost we are a serving church - throughout nearly three centuries we have been serving the people of Concord and the world.

    We are a welcoming church -- welcoming children, youth, and adults, seekers and settled, doubtful and faithful, and creating a community united in Christ's love for us all.

    We are a church growing in Christ -- not having all the answers but growing in faith, in love, in working for a just and peaceful world, people learning the way of Jesus together, and welcoming others to learn with us.

    Come and see!
